Sticky: What are Sticky Threads?

What are sticky threads for?
When a thread answers a common question well, it will be come a sticky thread so as not to be lost.

This is useful because it stops the same question from being asked over and over and over again. Stickys are useful for keeping the signal up and the noise down. That's it.

Stickys are not to be construed as the final answer. There are too many points of view to consider any single answer as the best answer. Time also introduces new ways of viewing old questions. So if you feel a topic needs a fresh discussion, by all means open up a new discussion.

Please do not consider a sticky post to be the definitive answer or statement. Except for this sticky. ;)

(Sorry, couldn't help it. :D )
